Bringing Nature Back to Life

At RRMI, rehabilitation goes beyond restoring the land. Through long-term environmental management and progressive rehabilitation efforts, we continue to recover ecosystems, improve biodiversity, and promote sustainable land use for future generations.

In 2025, the Rapu-Rapu Polymetallic Project became the first mine in the Philippines to receive official rehabilitation approval from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), marking a significant milestone in responsible mine closure and environmental stewardship.

Key Rehabilitation Activities

RRMI dedicated over PHP 1.12B to rehabilitation efforts, significantly exceeding the original FMRDP budget of PHP 157M to support sustainable ecosystem recovery.

Ecosystem and Biodiversity

Marine Biodiversity

Marine biodiversity surveys identified 42 reef fish species, 28 hard coral species and 32 marine macro-invertebrate species across the coastal monitoring area. Terrestrial Biodiversity

High biodiversity confirmed with 100 floral and 68 faunal species (The Shannon-Weiner Diversity Index(H’) = 3.67).
Native species rehabilitation improved habitat restoration and ecosystem recovery.
